Elected Representative from a Rural or Regional Council 2016

Winner of the AwardWendy Tuckerman, Boorowa Shire Council.

Councillor Tuckerman has served on Boorowa Council for 12 years and has been the Mayor since 2007. During her time as Mayor, she has led a culture of change, particularly in the way in which the community is informed and engaged in the decision making process.

Under her leadership a number of long-running and high priority community projects have been initiated and completed to increase educational opportunities, improve medical services and attract industry. This included the replacement of major road and bridge infrastructure, through to park redevelopment projects in partnership with the RSL to commemorate the ANZAC Centenary and the development of the Hilltops Region Business and Community Precinct.

Councillor Tuckerman is also the Chair of the Canberra Region Join Organisation with a focus on ensuring increased opportunities are available for women in the LG sector.
