Winner of the Award – Sarah Sampson, Penrith City Council
Sarah is the Development Compliance Officer at Penrith City Council. In 2011, Sarah took the initiative to make Penrith Council staff more active, and set about joining members into the Fitness Passport program, with the program taking off in 2012.
Sarah’s main goal was to see staff join the exercise program, which enabled members to use a number of gyms and swimming pools across the Sydney metropolitan area. She wanted to encourage health and wellbeing in the workplace, in order to have a productive and healthy work environment. The program is available to all staff and their families.
From relatively small beginnings, the program has grown to a point where there are now 215 staff and 264 of their family members accessing over 45 gyms.
To complement this, Sarah is also on the staff social club executive, and helps to organise social activities to bring staff together. Sarah’s focus is always on achieving success for the benefit of staff and their families.
