Community events

Well-managed events are an important part of vibrant local communities, contributing to social and economic benefits to communities and NSW as a whole.

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and Transport for NSW also produced resources on event management guidelines.

Firework events

Filming

The NSW Government is committed to supporting screen production and making NSW film-friendly. The NSW Government’s Filming Protocol (protocol) aims to help councils balance the interests of communities while supporting the film industry.

The 2026/27 maximum fees councils may charge for filming applications and approvals under the protocol have been adjusted for inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
