My pet is from outside NSW. How do I register them?

If your pet was born and microchipped interstate or overseas, it was not recorded on the NSW Pet Registry. Now that you and your pet live in NSW, you must follow the steps below to register.

  1. 1. Make sure you have the correct proof of ownership

You must be able to demonstrate that you are the current owner of the cat or dog. This can include:

    • Certificate of Registration from another state or country.
    • Purchase receipt with the pet’s microchip number and your name as owner
    • Change of ownership paperwork
