Infrastructure assets are the systems and networks that provide services to communities such as roads, buildings, water supply, sewer networks and stormwater drainage.

In June 2013 the Office of Local Government carried out a detail review of the infrastructure backlog of NSW councils. The Local Government Infrastructure Audit also considered infrastructure management processes, practices, future infrastructure requirements and funding strategies.

More information about how councils are managing infrastructure is contained in the Your Council website at www.yourcouncil.nsw.gov.au or the Time Series Data.

Under the Local Infrastructure Renewal Scheme the NSW Government is providing interest subsidies to councils on loans raised fund infrastructure backlog projects.
