New CEO appointed to Lord Howe Island Board
The Office of Local Government today announced that Peter Adams has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for the Lord Howe Island Board.
Mr Adams has extensive knowledge, skills and experience working in local government over many years.
The Lord Howe Island Board is charged with the care, control and management of the world heritage listed island and the welfare of its 350 permanent residents.
It is also responsible for promoting the island as a tourist destination, with 16,000 tourists visiting each year.
The Board has broad-ranging functions similar to a local council in providing community infrastructure, facilities and services.
“Peter has held senior positions in some of the biggest councils in NSW in a range of areas,” Office of Local Government Acting Chief Executive Tim Hurst said.
“He specialises in capital works and project delivery, strategic land use planning, asset management, financial planning, strategy and sustainability, and community consultation.
“I congratulate Peter on his appointment and wish him well in serving the best interests of Lord Howe Island and its community.”
